TUNISIA

Tunisia had considerable club success in 1999 and will be hoping to translate that onto national team level. Most of the side that were runners-up to South Africa in 1996 are still on the scene but the coach is now Italian Franco Scoglio. He ensured Tunisia won five of six qualifying matches and were the first side to book their place in Ghana and Nigeria. Central to the team is midfielder Hassen Gabsi, who was such a revelation in Burkina Faso, and striker Adel Sellimi, among the leading goalscorers in the Bundeliga this season. At the back Mounir Boukadida is one of the toughest defenders in African football while Chokri El Ouaer is an experienced goalkeeper.
