Chirwa and Tsepo Ntsoane once formed a deadly combination in the
centre of midfield for AmaZulu, now the two friends are planning to
buy a First Division club in Durban and create a base for developing
talented young players.
Chirwa says that they are still looking for the correct
opportunity, but they are remaining confident that things will go
according to plan.
“We would like to buy a team near to our home in Kwa-Mashu, but
anywhere around Durban will also suit us perfectly. The aim is to
provide talented young players with a club that is run properly.
There is so much talent in Kwa-Zulu Natal and we want to help
develop it,” Chirwa says.
Former AmaZulu players from the late eighties Menzi Xulu and
Wonderboy Mtshali have been linked as possible coaches.
Ntsoane rejoined AmaZulu from Bush Bucks last season and
expressed his happiness about being at home. Unfortunately Ntsoane
is injured and therefore he is currently unable to play any
competitive football.
Chirwa says that he is not playing soccer at all anymore and is
still trying to get over the fact that his former team is no longer
in the top flight.
Chirwa still holds a record at AmaZulu, he played 244 games in
his time with the club and nobody has yet beaten that record.
