BURKINA FASO

Belgian coach Rene Taelman faces the awesome challenge of trying to outdo a miracle worker when he leads Burkina Faso at this years tournament. Frenchman Philippe Troussier guided a country with no pedigree in the event to fourth place two years ago. Another Frenchman, Didier Notheaux, was responsible for Burkina Faso making the 2000 finals as they topped a mini-league with two wins over Burundi and two draws with Senegal. However, the football authorities were not satisfied and Taelman took over a squad that has had little success in warm-up matches against mainly modest opponents. The Stallions exceeded their wildest expectations two years ago as much through perspiration as inspiration and, away from their fans, rolled sleeves may not be sufficient.
